For Keiron, support from COVEY has helped create a strong sense of safety, belonging and acceptance across every part of his life – at home, at school and in his relationships with others.
Keiron is a neurodivergent young person with neurodevelopmental delay, ADHD and ASD. He thrives in environments where the adults around him offer patience, understanding and encouragement. As he moved from primary school to high school, COVEY was there to support him through this important stage of change, helping him build confidence in new surroundings and reminding him that he can be himself and feel accepted.
With consistent, trusted support, Keiron has grown in confidence, strengthened his self-belief and developed valuable social and emotional skills. He is building friendships, recognising his strengths and developing a greater understanding of himself and others.
Most importantly, he is learning that he is valued, that his voice matters and that he has a positive future ahead.
Reflecting on the difference COVEY has made, Keiron expressed how he feels with the help of his supporter, Fiona:
"COVEY has made a really big difference in my life. It has helped me feel happier and more hopeful about things in the future. Sometimes things are hard for me, but having support has helped me feel like I am not on my own.
"Because of COVEY, I have had chances to try new things that I might never have done before. This has helped me learn new skills and feel proud of myself. It makes me feel good to know that I can do more than I thought I could.
"COVEY has also helped me feel braver about meeting new people. I still get nervous, but when I have someone there to begin with, it helps me feel safer and I find it easier. I start to feel more confident.
"The support I get from COVEY helps me join in with things more and not feel left out. It has helped me stay in school and keep trying, even when things get hard. Knowing there are people who care about me makes me feel like I'm important to someone. It means a lot to me.
"COVEY has helped me feel more positive about what I can do in the future."
