Lis Johnstone

Lis has worked in a variety of youth and community work situations in the past 30 years, going onto qualify as a Post 16+ specialist teacher and Specialist Dyslexia and Neurodiversity Assesor within the Local Government sector.  Alongside these professional achievements, she has supported a range of voluntary organisations with a focus on the equal opportunities' agenda with a specific focus on disability representation and advocacy.

Born in England, her husband and their six rescue dogs, have lived in Scotland for over 6 years. As a result of the Covid pandemic, she is now a wheelchair user herself, involved in a range of advocacy roles both secular and Christian faith based.

Her experience of leading and supporting a range of innovative projects, including as a Chair of a Parent carer forum and as a representative of families with disabled children and young people; her passion for empowerment has not been daunted.

She is keen to build on the legacy of all the work that COVEY has undertaken to support children, young people and families across Lanarkshire. Being a Trustee affords her an excellent opportunity to not only support COVEY to fulfil its purpose but also to continue to provide a fully inclusive, person-centred and supportive environment for the families of Lanarkshire.
